Tupperware seals are known for its quality, airtight and liquid tight seals but not all are liquid tight and vice versa, so make sure you know your seals!
Here a are few of the different seals that are available in the past and present in different markets around the world. Although even as we speak, the designers at the Tupperware R&D department are already creating newer innovative seals for our constant changing needs. No worries, I will definitely inform you of new seals as they come into the market.
We know about :
Instant Seals
Push-button seals
Modular Mates Seals
Duo Seal Closures
Classic Round Seals
Rectangular & Square seals
One touch seals
Other seals unique to the respective products – eg. Quick Shake seal, Mix n Pour etc.
It should be noted that currently only the Classic Round Seal, Duo Seal Closure, One touch seals and Push-Button Seals are liquid tight. The newest addition to these is the Rectangular Seal for the Kompact Konnections Range (also known as
All other containers that you used to store liquid without these seals should be placed in an upright position to avoid spillage.
Let’s look at the Instant Seals first. (Please revert to the pictures in the link so you understand better of what I am talking about) Used mostly in the Servalier and Decorator canister range, these is a classic vintage seal that is making a comeback. Definitely air- and liquid tight. However one of the thing that constantly bugs me is that dirt likes to collect in the grooves of the seals (shaped like a opened fan) and it takes some effort to clean them up! Yup! By now, you should realize that I like simple and easy to do stuff! I’m a simple person!
The push-button seals are mostly found in our 2Litre and giant pitchers. Did you know you can actually lock the seal in place by pulling up on the push-button itself. When I travel with my kids, I always chuck a 2L pitcher filled with their favourite cordial into the boot, rest assured that not a single drop will spill!
The rectangular and square seals are usually found in the Tupperware On The Go range – the square rounds, the square aways, goody boxes, double deep, modular keeper and the Bake 2 basic series - snack stores and slice n stores.
